Vintage Russian Military Night Vision BN2,5x42 Field Glasses/Binoculars
My wife got these in an estate sale, don’t know the history behind them. They are in great shape, tiny bits of wear here and there, but generally look almost new. I put fresh AA batteries in, which are included (you unscrew the cap on the outward facing lens side of the top tube to access the batteries). Googling around, I read that you shouldn’t turn them on in bright light, so I did all of my testing in dim areas. See included photos that I took in my basement workshop with only a little light from window wells, which would be similar to a night with a bright moon. Hard to capture images of what you see through the binoculars, but I included an image looking across my shop at a vintage boat motor on a stand with a can of Bondo on top of it, and another of a shelving unit. Not clear in the pictures to be certain, and in reality, they are far from high def, but much clearer in person than in the photos. None-the-less, hopefully the photos convey that they work enough to show images in a dimly lit space. Sale include a non-vintage canvas bag that fits it well (bag is missing the shoulder strap) to offer a little protection. Let me know if you need any other photos to make your decision, or if you have any questions (I don’t know much about the history or use of these).
