For sale Fujinon S1040 D/N Stabiscope binoculars. This is one of the most advanced binoculars in the world. S1040 D/N Stabiscope is both a day and night vision binocular. The eyepieces are easily interchanged so that your day time 10×40 binocular can quickly morph into a serious NVD with amazing image intensifying capabilities (please note that night vision intensifiers are needed for night vision). The astounding abilities of this binocular do not stop here, there is also a state of the art gyroscopic image stabilization system built into this wondrous optical device. The image-stabilizing gyro system is incorporated in the binocular to get a steady image while observing from a vibrating platform in both the day and night time binocular configuration. Fujinon Day & Night Stabiscope makes it possible to observe in the dark, from a moving car, or from an airborne helicopter. The gyro motor is working. Lenses are nice with no major flaws/imperfections/scratches that I can see. Night eyepiece tubes are clean with no blemishes and no black spots. Day eyepiece tubes have some minor blemishes/scratches but it does not affect the picture quality. Rubber cover adhesive is coming loose is some areas. The metal storage case has some wear/scratches. There is some slight deterioration to the strap leather and rubber cover due to age. Please see pictures for complete assessment of item condition. Overall, considering the age of these binoculars I would consider them to be in good used condition. Night Optics (please note that night vision intensifiers is not included). Fujinon Starscope Pro-2010 night vision monocular. Uses a Photonis XX1613/P32 image intensifier (Super-Gen tube). The sharp, well-defined image produced is generally considered to outperform later Gen 2+ and Gen 3 devices. Powered by two standard AA batteries. Main focussing is by rotating the front lens ring with diopter correction at the eyepiece and auto brightness control. Note that the onboard IR (an LED in the battery cover) on this example has been disconnected by a previous user and so to get the very best results additional IR may possibly be required. Having said that, I have personally found the tube to be extremely sensitive, often still producing a useable image even with the “pin-hole” lens cap still in place! Professional users include the British RNLI national lifeboat service. Cosmetic condition is good but it had been used professionally before I acquired it so there is some light surface wear to the paint and plastic/rubber. Weight 500gms/1.1lbs, length 15cms/6″, overall diameter 7.5cms/3″. The monocular will be very carefully packed in a well padded box for dispatch and sent fully insured.
