This is a very special piece of Military History. A Very Serious optical lens collection for a homemade telescope. MK-37 Mod 3 Night Vision Telescope. Once u sed by the US Navy as a deck mounted long-distance surveillance night scope in the 1970s to early 1980s. The entire unit was made by Davidson Optronics in California. (I traced the “Cage Code” on the Ser No tag)…. But I don’t think they service these anymore. AND, Due to federal regulations (and my allergy to orange jumpsuits), I’ve removed ALL the Night vision components. This is a “DE-MILLED” night vision scope. 8 inch 203 mm! In The Picture, I’m measuring the BACK SIDE of the mirror. I didn’t want to scratch the front side. Internal sub-reflector (approx 2.5 inch): PERFECT optical surface, no scratches or defects. Exit lens approx 2.5: PERFECT LENS, looks maybe plano-convex, very slight image change, no scratches. Multi-lens Eyepiece: PERFECT LENSES (maybe 2) AND it’s a functional manual-focusing mechanism…. Seems to be double-convex. Military Mounting system , all metal, with elevation and azimuth indicator dials. Sliding sheet-metal sun-shroud over the lens system…. Prevents solar glare or a sniper from seeing you? These lenses are FANTASTIC! I’d like to build my own telescope with these parts, but I just don’t have the time. The lenses are all aligned and spaced properly, so maybe you can just finish it with a good solid mount and add a camera adapter. A regular tripod WILL NOT WORK…. This is a big HEAVY MILITARY optical unit! The complete unit weighs 30 pounds… Contact me if you have any questions…. it’s an old unit, but maybe I can help.
